As a Wellness Advocate who's also a mature woman, mom, birth doula and yoga instructor, I often get asked about support for women hormones. This is a topic very broad topic that inspires me to ask a lot of questions to the person asking which gradually helps them to have what I call 'light bulb moments' about their activities and health.
As women we are faced with countless variables through out the day that lends to hormone/endocrine disruptors (human-made chemicals in the environment that interfere with the development and function of all body systems in humans and animals). We also face situations causing stress telling our reproductive system to take a back seat to fight-or-flight survival responses. Our circulatory, digestive and reproductive systems get put on hold until we can resolve whatever crisis is at hand resulting in our estrogen and progesterone production getting put on hold until we can reclaim control of our situation.
There is good news though because you are fully capable of reducing the stress in your life with proper diet, exercise, restful sleep, reduction of toxic load, and stress management to become empowered instead if weakened.
A quick google search will give you a large list of diets you can participate in coupled with exercise routines and ideas for more restful sleep. You can even find out what endocrine disruptors but here are some things you can do to avoid endocrine disruptors altogether. Here are some tools to help you get started avoiding endocrine disruptors.
While in the kitchen consider cooking with natural cookware like stainless steel, glass and cast iron. Avoid nonstick cookware.
Use natural insecticides and cleaning around your home.
Use natural body care products.
Buy or grow food organically. If finances are an issues, focus on organic meat and dairy and the dirty dozen produce list.
Avoid plastic water bottles and use glass and stainless steel instead.
Fasting or doing a cleanse is a great kick start to getting your hormones in check.
